A Series of Unexpected Events Reminds Us to Always Pay it Forward – Derek Carr Helps Stranded Stranger
It started out as any other day for Dublin native Ron Reeser. He was at the gas station, and suddenly, he became stranded!
“This light at Orchard and Tassajara turned green, but my car instantly stopped,” says Reeser. Soon after, a man in a black SUV pulled up next to him. He stuck his head out the window and said, “Hey, is everything okay?”
At that point, Reeser was about to put gas.
Reeser said, “I ran out of gas.”
He said, “Why don’t you hop in the car? I’m going to get some gas,” says the man.
It was only a half mile to the gas station and along the way, the two talked about their careers.
“I’m a music producer and I’m a DJ. I’ve been doing it a while,” said Reeser. Then, he asked the man where he was from because he had an accent.
The man said, “I’m from Texas.”
Reeser said, “Okay, cool.”
The man followed with, “I lived in Fresno and played at Fresno State before I moved over here.”
Reeser replied, “That’s pretty cool. What do you do?”
He said, “I’m a football player.”
That’s when the men pulled up to the gas station. On the ride back to Reeser’s car, they continued talking.
“What position do you play? You said you’re a football player, right?” Reeser became intrigued.
“Yes, I’m a quarterback,” said the kind man.
“That’s cool,” says Reeser.
“What string are you?”
“I’m the first string.”
Reeser asked what his favorite team was.
Carr said, “I’m a little biased ’cause I play for the Raiders.” At that moment, Reeser stepped back, astonished.
He asked, “What’s your name?”
The man answered, “I’m Derek Carr.”
“I’m Derek Carr.”
Reeser says Carr told him he wanted to be a pastor someday when he retired from football. The quarterback made another unexpected move when they arrived back at Reeser’s car. Before parting ways, Reeser said Carr asked if there was anything he wanted to pray for. Reeser’s Catholic and he was raised that way. So, he said, “Sure, why not?” He put his right hand on Reeser’s left shoulder. Both men prayed together. At that point, it was a little mind-blowing because this was entirely unexpected!
The two exchanged contact information. Since then, Reeser tweeted this to Carr:
thank u for the help & prayer today @derekcarrqb you’ve restored my faith in humanity & appreciate u taking the time #godbless #payitforward
— RON REESER (@ronreeser) March 14, 2017
God bless you too! Anytime!!!! But hopefully not on the side of the road again haha https://t.co/A3ntQoUHw2
— Derek Carr (@derekcarrqb) March 15, 2017
“It re-instilled faith in me that people can still be Good Samaritans and do nice things for people without any expectations, regardless of your stature, who you are or what you do for a living,” says Reeser. He says he grew up a 49er fan, but Carr impressed him.
“You might see me sidelines at a Raiders game,” says Reeser. We asked him if he was a Raider fan before this. He replied, ” I can’t say I was, but it’s probably going to change this season.”
What An Experience
Reeser says he still feels like he’s floating from this experience. He describes Carr as being, “genuine and down to earth.” When Ron Reeser was offered the ride, at first he didn’t recognize Carr. That’s until they started to talk about their jobs and Carr introduced himself.
Reeser also wrote the following about the exchange:
“Not only was that experience surreal, I will remember it for the rest of my life. The universe works in mysterious ways, we just have to keep the faith. I’m a firm believer in someone’s energy. And I encourage all of you to try and stay positive no matter what situation you’re going through. And most importantly, pay it forward when you can.”
“Later Gator!”
There was some excitement at the Arnold Palmer Invitational in Florida this past week. An alligator decided to join the golfers on the course. Some said, “Later Gator.”
Cody Gribble finally came along to nudge the unsuspecting gator back into the Bay Hill Lake. The Texas-born golfer was cool and collected. However, others didn’t play it so cool. How would you react to an enormous beast crawling towards you?

Warriors vs Thunder. Russell Westbrook is coming back for vengeance as he takes on the Golden State Warriors without Kevin Durant. Russell Westbrook has been absolutely insane as of late and is playing in a game at home vs. Warriors team that crushed them in their previous meaning. With Durant not playing, this game is going to stay a lot closer than the last time they played. Durant has torched his former team in each of the last three times they have played. Durand is still recovering form a grade 2 MCL sprain.
The Thunder have been great ever since All Star break and will look to take down the streaky Warriors team. In this game, we think Westbrook plays no less than 40-45 minutes especially on a day of rest. He is going to come out on fire just launching shots up so be prepared for something spectacular tonight. His price is getting ridiculous, but he was shown flashes of games that are not human. This game is going to be a thriller and very up tempo, so look for Westbrook and Curry to battle tonight.

Rockets vs Nuggets. This game is screaming with points as two of the worst defensive teams in the NBA square off in Denver. The over/under is a staggering 238 and the game is projected to stay close. This is the game that you target, and the game that you target heavily. It all starts with James Harden coming off a monster performance last night, he plays a Nuggets defense that is the number one worst team in the NBA defending guards. He is maybe a bit fatigued due to the back to back, but this matchup is too good to pass up on. On the other side of things, every Nugget players on the team can potentially be rostered tonight with the exception of Jameer Nelson. Jamal Murray, Gary Harris, Will Barton, Jauanacho Hernangomez, Nikola Jokic, The Mannimal Faried, and Mason Plumlee, all qualify to be rostered tonight.
The Rockets allow a ton of points, and the Nuggets come in as a top three scoring team in the NBA behind the Rockets. This game is going to be insane, so take as many Nuggets players as you can. Lock in James Harden. Overall, this is the game to stack on the entire slate. Make sure you have at least two, if not three, players in this game. Especially with the over/under on two games are projected to be under 200 points.

Cavaliers vs Clippers Expert NBA Fantasy Advice
Cavaliers vs Clippers. LeBron James sets way against the LA Clippers in one that should be exciting to watch. The biggest question is the availability over Kyrie Irving. If Kyrie Irving does not play, START Lebron James in your lineups because his usage skyrockets when Kyrie is not on the floor. A sneaky play to look for is Deron Williams,. He can be a great plug in player if Kyrie sits as well. This game is going to stay very close due to the defenses of both teams. The problem is the scoring should not be that high scoring making this game one to not target as much. This game should be great on national television, but in a Daily Fantasy Sports World, not so great.

Sit ‘Em- Jrue Holiday
Expert NBA Fantasy Advice for Rockets at Pelicans
The first time these two teams met, when Demarcus Cousins made his debut, this game was an absolute blowout. The Vegas Line has this game staying fairly close for some reason, but in our opinion, the Rockets are going to take care of business early and blow the Pelicans out of New Orleans. James Harden is the player to key in on in this match up as he takes on a loaded interior defense of Anthony Davis and Demarcus Cousins. James Harden has been phenomenal as of late, and if this game can stay close, James Harden can be a tremendous play. We do recommend using him with caution as the Rockets can blow any team out on any given night. Overall, it is going to be up to Cousins and Davis to stay away from foul trouble, and really take over this game in order for the Pelicans to pull away with a win. This game is going to be very high scoring, and going to be ran very uptempo, so we do recommend targeting at least one superstar in this game.

Sit ‘Em- Otto Porter, Markieff Morris
Expert Fantasy Advice for the Bulls Wizards Game
The biggest news is that Dwayne Wade is now done for the season. When Dwayne Wade is off the court, Jimmy Butler becomes absolutely stellar making him a must start against Washington tonight. The other news is that John Wall has a 50/50 shot of playing tonight; leaving a lot of uncertainty on who will run the back court. If Brandon Jennings gets the start tonight and Wall is ruled out, Jennings becomes a huge punt play on Fanduel or Draftkings.
Both teams have been playing decent lately, but if John Wall does play, watch out for the blowout factor in this game. His presence on the court makes a huge difference in the outcome of this game. We recommend waiting to hear the news on John Wall before you start plugging some players in your lineup. Overall, this game should not be that high scoring, but if Wall is sidelined, this game should stay very close.

Nets Projected Starters: PG Jeremy Lin, SG Randy Foye, SF Caris LeVery, PF R. Hollis-Jefferson, C Brook Lopez, and Injuries- Harris, Kilpatrick
Knicks Projected Starters: PG Derrick Rose, SG Courtney Lee, SF Carmelo Anthony, PF Lance Thomas, C Willy Hernangomez, and Injuries- Noah, Porzingis (GTD)
Here is our Fantasy Basketball expert advice:
Nets: Start ‘Em- Caris LeVery, Jeremy Lin Sit ‘Em- Trevor Booker
Knicks: Start ‘Em- Carmelo Anthony, Courtney Lee, Lance Thomas Sit ‘Em- none

Fantasy Basketball Expert Advice:
This is the game we will be targeting. Two teams that have no idea what defense even means. Look for Carmelo Anthony to dominate, especially at home with Porzingis ruled out. Carmelo and Lance Thomas are going to crush value on both DraftKings and FanDuel so be sure to have them both as your small forwards. This game is going to be high scoring and close. In our expert fantasy basketball opinion, we are saying there is not a wrong player to take in this game. On the Nets side of things, look for Caris Lavert to have another great performance with Sean Kilpatrick being unlikely to play. His usage and minutes are on the rise, so look for this young man to play really well vs a porous Knicks defense. Overall, STACK THIS GAME.

NBA Game Preview

O/U 207.5
Hornets Projected Starters
PG Kemba Walker
SG Jeremy Lamb
SF M. Kidd-Gilchrist
PF Marvin Williams
C Cody Zeller
Injuries- Sessions, Plumlee, Batum (GTD), O’Bryant (GTD)
Pacers Projected Starters
PG Jeff Teague
SG C.J. Miles
SF Paul George
PF Thaddeus Young
C Myles Turner
Injuries- Young, Niang, Allen
Here is what our Pros think about this game-
Hornets
Start ‘Em- Kemba Walker, Jeremy Lamb, Marvin Williams
Sit ‘Em- Cody Zeller
Pacers
Start ‘Em- Paul George, Miles Turner
Sit ‘Em- Jeff Teague
Game Notes- The Hornets love hitting value every single night, which means we will definitely be targeting at least one of them. Marvin WIlliams has been on an absolute TEAR lately and looks to continue his streak against a weak Pacers interior. He is cleaning up rebounds and has notched double doubles in his last four games. He has crushed value in his last four games and looks to continue that tonight. The real MUST START player is not Marvin Williams actually. It is Jeremy Lamb, who is replacing Nicholas Batum again in the starting lineup tonight. He is coming off one of his best games of his career and looks to keep that momentum going again tonight vs. a Pacers defense who struggles vs opposing SGs. He is going to be a chalk play (A player who is owned by over 50%), but he is a must own since 5x value should be easily hit tonight. Overall, this game is going to stay very close, and both teams play up tempo so the scoring to be quite high, which means we totally recommend taking a few players in this game.
We will update our Pro Lineup Builder to reflect any last-minute lineup changes or late-breaking injury news. Please check back with us up until tip-off. You can also follow us on twitter @thedklegends for the latest NBA news and notes from our Pros.
NBA Game Preview
Wednesday, March 15
Minnesota Timberwolves (28-38) at Boston Celtics (42-25)
7:30 EST at TD Garden
BOS -6
O/U 210.5
Timberwolves Projected Starters
PG Ricky Rubio
SG Brandon Rush
SF Andrew Wiggins
PF Gorgui Dieng
C Karl-Anthony Towns
Injuries- Pekovic, LaVine
Celtics Projected Starters
PG Isaiah Thomas
SG Avery Bradley
SF Jae Crowder
PF Amir Johnson
C Al Horford
Injuries- Mickey, Jackson
Here is what our Pros think about this game-
Timberwolves
Start ‘Em- Ricky Rubio, Karl-Anthony Towns
Sit ‘Em- Andrew Wiggins
Celtics
Start ‘Em- Avery Bradley
Sit ‘Em- Isaiah Thomas
Game Notes- Who does not love the TWolves? They are the most predictable team in the NBA. Ricky Rubio gets 15 assists and 10 of them go to Karl Anthony Towns. These two players are FanDuel scoring machines and will automatically be plugged into our lineups. They both play an absurd amount of minutes, and even though they are not at home, the Celtics struggle defending the PG and Center positions making it even harder for us to say no to these guys. This game is also going to stay pretty close, but the scoring isn’t going to be outrageous because both teams are average in pace. Overall, this game is going to be very fun to watch especially if KAT can dominate once again.
