With just few weeks left in the 2018 Major League Baseball regular season, the action is likely to create some excitement in daily fantasy contests. While several teams have wrapped up their divisions, those who are still battling for a spot in the postseason will be pulling out all the stops to make it happen.

There are multiple players peaking for their teams at the perfect time. Several of those can be added to your roster for a decent price, leaving room for you to secure some of those can’t miss, top tier salary players.

Crafting the Perfect Outfield

The outfield position might have the deepest pool of talent from which to choose. Of course Mike Trout, Bryce Harper, and Christian Yelich will cost you a good chunk of your payroll, but all three are tearing the cover off the ball. For those looking for a bit of a bargain, Shohei Ohtani, Yasiel Puig, Michael Conforto, and Charlie Blackmon all fall in the $3500 to $4000 range on FanDuel.

Some Surefire Infielders to Consider

Although the outfielders have been putting up huge daily fantasy numbers, there is some great talent available at each of the infield spots.

First basemen Paul Goldschmidt and Joey Votto continue to prove worthy of their lofty cost, but some under the radar players such as Philadelphia’s Carlos Santana and the A’s Matt Olsen are cheaper alternatives that have been seeing the ball well as of late. On the other corner, Anthony Rendon and Alex Bregman are two of the hottest hitters in baseball. Both are worth the price, but for those needing a more affordable option, Adrian Beltre continues to defy time and Justin Turner falls in that second salary tier despite producing at a solid clip all summer.

Up the middle, Adalberto Mondesi has been one of the few bright spots in a disappointing Royals season. He’s putting up numbers far above his peers and can be picked up for dirt cheap. Francisco Lindor, Xander Bogaerts, and Jose Altuve are of course viable options any night they’re in the lineup. With so few other middle infielders performing as well, consider spending a little extra in these spots.

Lights-out Pitching Options

Jacob deGrom, Justin Verlander, and Blake Snell have been helping DFS players cash in all season. Each have been particularly dazzling to hitters over their last several outings, racking up the fantasy points along the way. For cheaper pickups, Zack Wheeler and Reynaldo Lopez could be great sleeper options. Both have put up a string of quality starts.

Tight ends are one of those positions that can save the day and put you in the money. But they can just as easily sink your daily fantasy roster because you spent too much on one of the top-flight guys and he didn’t produce.

Like any position, there is an element of risk to picking any player. It just seems that with tight ends, it is either feast or famine. This can, of course, make it difficult to figure out who you should start. But worry not—we’re here for you.

How about some DFS TE Recommendations?

Travis Kelce seems to be the top dog among tight ends right now; him and Rob Gronkowski, of course. As usual, either is an advisable play. The way Patrick Mahomes is slinging the ball everywhere, Kelce is bound to catch his fair share. Until the Patriots discover a decent wide receiver or two, Gronk remains Tom Brady’s top three choices on any given play.

But if you are open to other options, consider these guys:

•    George Kittle, San Francisco 49ers: He’s a big target, and against the porous Chiefs defense, maybe Jimmy Garoppolo finally gets on track. Since the Chiefs have been giving up a lot to tight ends this season, no reason to think Kittle can’t have a big game.
•    Trey Burton, Chicago Bears: The Bears are taking on a Cardinals team that is the definition o struggle. This should be a breakout game for Mitchell Trubisky. If it is, look for Burton to be one of the primary beneficiaries.
•    Mark Andrews, Baltimore Ravens: The Broncos have not been too tough on tight ends so far this season, and Andrews is probably the best of the bunch in Baltimore’s stable. There is no telling how much he’ll play so consider him a long shot at best. But if you blow your money on other spots and just need a warm body that might produce well….
•    Will Dissly, Seattle Seahawks: After a great game in Week One, he was a lot quieter in Week Two. But he could be the X-factor against a Cowboys team that is going to put a ton of pressure on Russell Wilson.

Best Bet?

This week, I’d suggest taking a gamble on your tight end and using more money elsewhere. Of the better affordable options, I can see Dissly acting as a lifeline for Russell Wilson as the Cowboys pass rush comes bearing down on him.
