Getting You Ready for the MLB Playoffs
With all the one-game playoffs decided, DK Legends is ready to cash in on these great matchups for the divisional round. The cream truly rose to the top in this 2018 Major League Baseball season, as each ballclub participating in the October dance are loaded with top tier pitching and offensive talent.
For regular daily fantasy players, the playoffs can be a beneficial time to start taking down some tournaments. Many of the players with the highest daily fantasy averages are still playing; some coming into the postseason on a hot streak. But for all the great options to choose from, getting maximum value from every spot on your roster will be crucial for success.
Pitching Will Make or Break a Lineup
It will be tough choosing the right pitcher throughout the playoffs. No team really stands out as a huge favorite, and that has a lot to do with how strong the pitching is. Houston has Justin Verlander, Gerrit Cole and Charlie Morton, all of whom are top 20 fantasy players. Cleveland, however, counters with Corey Kluber, Trevor Bauer, Carlos Carrasco, and Mike Clevinger.
The other AL matchup might not be as powerful, but neither Boston or New York has a decided advantage over the other. Chris Sale and David Price are hungry to prove their postseason prowess. The Yankees are confident that J.A. Happ will continue his streak of dominance, while hoping that Luis Severino will bring his game from the first half of the season when his turn on the mound comes up.
Over in the National League, the talent level in the pitching department drops off quite a bit. It’s in these matchups that a DFS player could really find some value, however. German Marquez and Kyle Freeland of the Rockies pitched well over the last month of the season, and could help Colorado capture some victories over Milwaukee. Atlanta is hoping for the best from a young Mike Foltynewicz, especially when the Dodgers bring a pitching staff loaded with postseason experience.
Plenty of Offensive Weapons at Each Position
Houston, Cleveland, Boston, and Colorado all have several top tier options. While they had historic regular seasons, the Red Sox have found their bats go silent for two straight Octobers. The Indians and Astros have proven their worth in the playoffs, but we’ve yet to see what Trevor Story and Nolan Arenado are capable of.
The Cleveland/Houston series might be the toughest to predict. They could find themselves in the middle of a 0-0 pitching duel, or slugging it out to a score resembling that of a football game. But both teams bring a ton of recent postseason experience. The superstars have been mentioned from each team, but there are also some bargains out their that possess the same playoff pedigree. Carlos Correa, Josh Reddick, and Michael Brantley are just such players to consider.
