Ranking Fantasy Players By Project Value
We rank players according to their projected value to cost ratio. Let’s use FanDuel as an example. If you have a $60,000 salary cap and your target point total is 300, then you will want to earn a point for every $200 that you spend. We want you to fill your lineups with players that are poised to hit at least 5X their value.
Example: If John Wall is $10,000, he needs to score 50 points to hit 5X value. If Yogi Ferrell is $5,000, he needs to hit 25 points to hit 5X his value. If all of your players hit 5X, you have a 300 point lineup.
If you’re a little confused, that’s okay. All that really matters is that it works!
Here is how we classify the players
NBA Fire Player
These are must-start players that we feel are going to exceed their 5X value.
NBA Pro Picks
These are players that are a safe bet to hit the 5X value with some upside.
NBA Key Player
These are boom or bust players that have a shot to hit 5X.
If a Player Isn’t Ranking, Should You Start Him?
Our pros don’t rank every player, and just because we don’t rank a player doesn’t mean you can’t play them. We narrow our pool of players to make it easier for our members to build a winning lineup.
We also avoid ranking players due to injury concerns, the possibility of resting, or any other questions of availability. We don’t want our members taking unnecessary risks on questionable players that may be benched after their rosters lock.
