Steelers WR Antonio Brown Is a Must-Start Despite The Cost
If you actually need to be told how good Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown is, you must live under a rock. That, or you choose your daily fantasy lineup based on something ridiculous like eye color or height. He’s a beast and one of the most productive players in daily fantasy play.
If the stats aren’t proof enough for you, what he’ll cost you to start him should. But don’t let the number scare you off this week—you want to start him.
Against the Patriots?
While the Patriots struggled on defense at the beginning of the season, they have turned it around for the last couple of months. However, against the Miami Dolphins, they struggled. Kenyan Drake ran for 100+ and caught another five balls for 79 yards.
Jarvis Landry had two touchdown receptions and caught all eight balls thrown his way (but for just 46 yards). Jay Cutler – yes, Jay Cutler –had a three touchdown, 268-yard night. So, if Miami can light up the Patriots defense, why not the Steelers?
Can they?
In recent weeks, the Patriots defense has been one of the best in the NFL. But maybe the injuries are finally taking a toll on the unit. Then again, they didn’t exactly play a murderer’s row of offensive powerhouses over the last couple months.
But in the Steelers, they will be playing a powerhouse. Ben Roethlisberger is one of the toughest quarterbacks in the NFL to tackle. He’s averaging 288 yards/game and is coming off a 500+ yard game against a very though Baltimore Ravens defense.
As for Antonio Brown, Roethlisberger targeted him 18 times against the Ravens and caught 11 for 213 yards. For the season, he is averaging 12 targets a game and 7+ receptions. So, he is going to get a fair number of targets and few are as capable of making something happen after the catch like he is.
But it’s the Patriots….
They controlled him last season in the AFC Championship game (seven receptions (nine targets) for 77 yards). But this year, the Patriots defense is not as good. If Roethlisberger can connect with Brown early on, the New England secondary is going to be in for a long day.
So, don’t let the specter of the Patriots dominance scare you off. Antonio Brown is going to have a great day. Be sure to see who the Pros at DKL are playing.
