Week 3 MNF Preview
Monday Night Football Preview
Atlanta Falcons (1-1) @ New Orleans Saints (0-2)
Monday September 26 @5:30pm
New Orleans Superdome
NO -2.5 O/U 53.5
On the heels of the ten year anniversary of the New Orleans Superdome’s reopening, the Saints are looking to bounce back from an 0-2 start. The Saints always play well at home and after losing the first two games of the season by a combined 4 points you can expect Sean Payton and Drew Brees to put on a show for their fans in their home opener. This is an important divisional matchup and the Falcons lead this series 48-45.
“They could easily be 2-0”
That was Falcon’s head coach Dan Quinn commenting his Monday night rival. The Saints may be 0-2 but they are still a good team capable of putting up a lot of points. The Falcons have a high octane offense that can match Brees and co if need be. Matt Ryan has thrown for 300+ in his first two games and leads the NFL in yards per passing attempts (10.0) and passer rating (212.4).
Play your Saints and Falcons
These teams don’t have good defenses. Atlanta ranks 29th overall on defense and the Saints are just as bad. Expect big numbers from both offenses. Sean Payton mentioned this week that he was disappointed that his team only ran the ball 13 times against the Giants last week and he suggested that running the ball more would help in limiting the time the Falcon’s offense is on the field. The last time these teams met Julio Jones went 9 for 149. Brandon Cooks has scored a touchdown in six consecutive home games.
Injuries
Willie Snead will not play tonight. Expect rookie WR Michael Thomas and TE Coby Fleener to try and fill the void. Julio Jones missed Friday’s practice with a lower leg injury but is expected to play.
