Week 11 Thursday Night Football Preview
The Saints (4-5) travel to take on their NFC South rival Carolina Panthers (3-6) to start week 11. This is the 44th regular season meeting between these two teams with the Panthers leading the series 23-20. Both teams are coming off disappointing losses and both desperately need a win to keep their playoff hopes alive.
The Panthers blew a 14 point fourth-quarter lead at home against the Chiefs last week on a walk-off field goal. The Saints lost to the Broncos 25-23 on a blocked extra point returned for a touchdown with less than two minutes to play. On a short week, both of these teams will need to hit the reset button and be ready to fight to keep their playoff aspirations alive. Atlanta sits in first place in the NFC South at 6-4 and neither the Saints or Panthers are in the early playoff picture. With the NFC East likely to hoard the wildcard spots, this is a must win game for both teams.
Expect a shootout
This game features two of the leagues worst pass defense with Carolina ranked 25th and the Saints 32nd. These teams met earlier this year in week 6. In that game Brees passed for 465 yards and 4TDs. Newton threw for 322 yards and 2TDs. The last two games between these clubs have been decided by the same score of 41-38, Carolina winning in week 13 last season and the Saints winning earlier this year. Vegas has this game scoring 52 points. Grab your popcorn and get ready for an entertaining TNF game.
